Core Components | Why we love BMPL
Our league combines several managerial activities that equate to a much more GM-like experience than standard fantasy leagues:
- We manage budgets of around $100M and rosters of 35-50 players
- Owners bid against each other to secure free agents during an existing offseason signing period
- Players are given multi-year contracts that expire, driving a frenzy of realistic trade activity - there are always sellers and buyers
- Every summer, we conduct a 3-round minor league draft. You can utilize your knowledge of young stars to secure long term pieces at a significant discount.
- You set your lineups and we play games based on last years stats, providing more control over how to strategically matchup against your opponents
- We have an awesome set of laid back owners that love baseball and have a lot of fun with this.
These are just some of the reasons that several of our owners have been in the league for well over 10 years!
Owner Expectations | What it takes from you
Sound like a lot of effort? It's not.
During the 2-3 week free agent signing period and the 2-3 day summer draft, you will have daily activities (minutes not hours) as you fill gaps in your roster.
The rest of the season isn't a big deal. We make changes to our lineups on a weekly basis and many weeks (especially early in the season), you will likely run with a very similar 25-man roster and lineups. This can take you less than 5 minutes to update.
To be competitive, this isn't a 24-hour a day job. But it is so fun that most owners do find themselves spending a little extra time researching players, making deals, giving each other grief and discussing strategy.
Vision | What we want to be
We want to be the most engaging and realistic online simulation league. Owners should feel like they are GM's of a real team. We will be competitive, but never lose sight of the fact that we do this for fun. Our digital capabilities will rival any other 'fantasy' platform.
Key Priorities | How we can get better
Every year we identify areas of opportunity and make changes to our rules and the ownership experience. While improving, there are several areas where we really want to focus over the coming years.
- Digital. We must improve our website and our online transactional capabilities, driving toward a consistent experience across all devices (mobile/tablet/desktop).
- Social. Finding new opportunities for our owners to easily interact will drive engagement and enjoyment.
- League Rules. Further refinement and clarity of our rules is a must. Processes must facilitate open dialogue and ensure that all owners have a voice and are contributing.
- Gameplay. Simplification of preparing for weekly gameplay, running the games and communication of results.
Owners | Who we are
We are a diverse group of individuals from all over the country. Some of us have a baseball background, but most of us are just casual fans. We all share a love of baseball.
Experience levels vary greatly. We have owners that have been playing in simulation baseball leagues for over 20 years. Others have just started.
We'll be working on putting more information on the site to showcase our teams and their owners in the coming weeks.
